Bio:

I was extremely gratified to see that Barry included one whole line in “our” bio about anything I might have been doing these last 40 years.  He really hasn’t kept me locked away in a padded cell, although sometimes that’s where I probably needed to be.

We have the three most wonderful children in the world which I “did bear unto him”, and they have blessed our lives immeasurably.  They have not been without their problems, but then, who has?  We also have six of the greatest grandchildren imaginable, and Bethany is expecting a little girl the first part of December.  Life is full.

When our kids were young, I delivered newspapers for almost 7 years, to supplement our income and to keep 3 kids in Lipscomb.  If you know what Nashville public schools were like in the 70’s and 80’s, you recognize the need for private school.  (I understand the schools are no better now, for that matter.)  Also, if you ever delivered newspapers, you know it takes a real toll on your body, and it has on mine.  I just had my fifth spinal surgery and am doing well, no small thanks to Barry, who takes excellent care of me.

As he said, I went to nursing school and have spent the last 21 years in pediatrics at Vanderbilt.  I worked 18 years on the peds surgery floor, and the last 3 in Children’s Hospital recovery.  I have seen a number of changes/advancements in children’s surgeries, and am always learning.  As far as adults go, I probably just know enough to be dangerous.

Although…I think Barry would agree I was handy to have around when he had his heart surgery.  The poor man probably still wouldn’t have peed if I hadn’t been there to point out that particular need to the staff.  By the way, don’t ever leave your loved ones alone after surgery…just a tip.

It will be good to see everyone who’s able to come to the reunion, and it’s been a trip reading your bio’s.

I’ve gone on long enough now.

See you,
